the.second.week.

I still maintain everything that I was doing last week and I have done a little more. I turned up the temperature on the freezer because we didn't have meat in it anymore and I have unplugged more appliances. I just put a fan in my room and I have it on a timer so that when I fall asleep, it turns off. I unplug it in the morning when I leave for school. Also, I have an electric toothbrush and I unplug it when I don't charge it and I only charge it when I need to. I also decided to reduce my shower time and today, I took a ten minute shower instead of half an hour.

I rode my bike to see people the other day and I walked my dog on the golf course and although thats not traveling, its really fun to see all the golfers get their clubs in a bunch. I am not very successful in riding my bike and walking to places because I live in the boonies.

How.the.First.Week.Went.

All week, I have done a good job at maintaining all the ways I already save energy. I didn't do so well with trying the new ways of saving energy. I have been using http://www.saveswatts.com/ instead of google. I kept the brightness of my laptop as low as I could, but sometimes I needed to keep it brighter or else I couldn't see. I turned the temperature on my fridge up but not on the freezer because we had meat in it. I unplugged my hair straightener everyday but I forgot to unplug my phone charger. Since I live far away from pretty much everything, I can't ride my bike to much, but the other day I rode it to Salmon Falls and the ice cream store that is right next to it.

Ways.I.Save.Energy&More.Ways.

My family saves energy by turning off the lights when we leave a room, putting my radio on a timer at night so it doesn't stay on, turning the water off when I'm brushing my teeth, keeping the doors closed to keep the heat or the a/c in, using CFL lightbulbs, lowering the heat in the day when we're not home, only opening the fridge door when it's absolutely necessary, washing our clothes in cold water, keeping our hot tub closed when it's not in use, using reusable water bottles, using cloth towels instead of paper towels, only running the washer, dryer or dishwasher when there is a full load, emailing things instead of printing them out, hanging laundry out to dry in good weather, having low flow toilets, energy efficient washer and dryer and kitchen appliances and using a dim light setting whenever possible.

Other ways to save energy are to use http://www.saveswatts.com/ instead of google, turn up the temperature on our freezer and fridge, unplugging chargers and appliances when they're not in use, turn down the brightness on your laptop and walk or ride your bike whenever you can.
